Ice maker making noise is easy to live with until it is not - especially in open-plan kitchens in Tavistock Farms and Sycamore Hill. Normal sounds: a valve click, a brief dump, cubes dropping. Abnormal: a long buzz from the inlet valve, a grinding harvest motor, an auger chewing fused ice, or a fan rubbing frost in a door ice room.
Buzzing at the back of the refrigerator is often the water valve. Grinding in the freezer is often the ice maker motor or ejector. Grinding in the door is often the auger. Locating the sound saves the wrong part. Commercial machines add pump and condenser fan noise; those belong on the commercial pages.
