Ice maker replacement is the right conversation when the motor, thermostat, mold heater, and control live in one assembly and several of those pieces have failed - or when the housing is cracked and leaking into the freezer. Leesburg contractors often swap the entire ice maker rather than rebuilding a 15-year-old module from a Whirlpool or Kenmore side-by-side.
Replacement is also how many Samsung and LG door-ice systems are handled: a new ice maker unit plus, sometimes, a new ice bucket. Dual ice makers (door plus freezer craft ice) can fail independently; you do not always replace both.
Long-tail parts that still belong on this page
People search for ice maker module replacement, ice maker assembly replacement, ice maker unit replacement, and ice maker motor replacement. In the field those phrases usually collapse into one assembly SKU plus a harness adapter. Tray-only, bin-only, valve-only, pump-only, and auger-only jobs are cheaper when the rest of the system still works - see those dedicated pages.
When not to replace the ice maker
If the fill tube is frozen, the filter is clogged, or the inlet valve is stuck, a new ice maker will sit there just as dry as the old one. Diagnosis first. If the refrigerator’s sealed system is dying, spending on an ice maker assembly is a poor bet; a contractor should say so.
